<p>Hi! I'm an out-of-stater most likely going to Michigan next year. I was wondering what some of the best dorms are on campus and why?</p>
<p>I really want a nice mix of having fun and academics. I'm really nervous about making new friends, so I'd like a dorm that has an open community :)</p>
<p>I was thinking of Couzens (it was recently renovated?), but I'm not sure if that's a freshmen-y dorm.</p>

<p>You don’t really get to pick your dorm unless you’re in a learning community.</p>
<p>I thought you put your preference and depending on the number in the lottery system you get you may or may not get that preference?</p>
<p>There are three preference options: Hill/Central, Bursley, and Baits/Northwood. Everyone puts it in that order. Also idk if there’s an actual numbered lottery system or if it’s just random but since everyone preferences exactly the same you really get no real say. Most dorms are pretty similar though besides location.</p>
