I'm definitely attending Tufts come fall, and I've started looking at dorms online. Currently, dorms such as Houston and Carmichael on the quad appeal to me the most. For any current Tufts students/parents: would you recommend living on the quad freshman year, or would a downhill residence be more convenient/nicer/etc...? Are there any particular dorms you would recommend or advise against? Thanks!

You don’t get a choice. You’ll get a housing survey in July or August that will let you select healthy living, all freshman, or mixed, and then they assign you a dorm.

Ah, ok. Thank you!

do they have that questionnaire most unis do that ask you how you study and your habbits etc… to match you with someone?

There is a five or so question survey you complete online which asks you about your sleep, study and social habits. It’s pretty brief but almost everyone I know is very happy with their roommate.

Another option, though, is utilizing facebook. Last year someone took initiative and created a Tufts Roommate Search group with an extensive roommate survey. That’s how my roommate and I found each other and she’s basically my soulmate in friend form. In fact, I think our 1 year “anniversary” of meeting each other (via the interwebz) is in less than a week! I would just advise embedding as much personality into your answers as possible - that way other people can get a clearer idea of who you are/if you’d be a good match.
If you’ve found someone by the time Tufts’ short roommate questionnaire comes in the mail, all you have to do is put each others’ names down and VOILA!
