Dorms

Would any current or former Elon students want to weigh in on the pros and cons on individual dorms? (particularly for new male freshman)

My son is finishing his freshman year and has loved living in Smith. He’s made good friends and likes the location on campus.

I live in Virginia, which is co-ed and in a convenient location. The rooms are huge but it’s made up of learning communities.

For the first year, I think anywhere but Daniely is fine. I hear that Daniely is a nice place to live, but it’s so disconnected from campus.

Danieley, not even close. Having moved into Danieley from main campus, I can tell you. The walk isn’t bad at all, and even easier with the BioBus which is pretty consistent and a bike is fine too. I usually just walk though. The rooms are nicer, the bathrooms are nicer, and you have more space. And usually, it’s more conducive to making friends, as you become close with the other 7 people versus a lot of good friends on your hall. Danieley is definitely the way to go.

Danieley just a reputation for being… “far” All the rooms are nicer, cleaner, bigger. You also have a separate common room, and a full kitchen area with a full-size fridge. There’s also 3 bathrooms, instead of hallstyle bathrooms or one.

In Staley, where I used to live, the bathroom (same setup as Moffitt) is very small, dim light, and low showerpressure and it’s for four people.

Danieley is the place to be. I’m actually going to be living in Danieley again.
