Hello everyone. I’m currently applying to Chapman University and I’m wondering if I get in,will I be able to get my B.F.A both film production and screen acting? I heard it’s nearly impossible to double major but since they’re so closely related i was wondering if it’s possible to do both at the same time. Also if anyone attends this school and is currently in either of these programs I would like to know what to expect in terms of curriculum. Are the two programs time consuming? Do these two programs overlap each other. If your wondering why I would like to do both it’s because I love performing but also love working from behind the scenes to creating a visual strory. I love both being the canvas and the painter. Its like when I’m acting I’m the paint for the artist but when I direct I get use all colors blend and mix to create the image I want. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Not sure about Chapman specifically but a double BFA might be very difficult (and lengthy) unless both majors have the same foundation program. You might be able to fit one of them in as a minor concentration. You should check out the curriculuar requirements for both. Check out the schools’s college catalog about double majors w/in the same degree program.
I’ve heard both of these programs at Chapman are demanding, particularly the film production major. A BFA typically means 60-75% (or more) of your courses are proscribed as requirements for the major. Chapman lists degree their course requirements for all majors I believe on their website. So you should be able to figure out how much overlap is there. I doubt though that they accept or even let people apply for double majors coming in as freshman. And i believe I read on their website that they don’t take transfers into the BFA screen acting because so many classes are proscribed.
