Can you double major with them? Can you transfer into both these programs as a junior? I would like to go to this early college first. How does the screenwriting program compare to USC's, NYU, UCLA, etc? Any time for auditions? How's the screen acting major going, do casting directors/agent think highly of it? Ty!

bump!!!

The screen acting major is brand new, so there is no way it would have any kind of reputation at this point. In fact, I think it officially starts this fall.

I am pretty sure they do not allow a double major within Dodge College. However, I don’t think they limit you on how many electives you can take, so if you have time, you could take extra electives in the subject of your interest. Some classes may be restricted to those majoring or minoring in that subject, though.

I would think you would have time for auditions. Most classes are Mon-Wed or Tue-Thurs. It would depend on how heavy a class load you schedule.

Thanks Timely. I asked them and they said I could have double majored with English. Is that because it’s a different school?

Exactly. You can double major with a Dodge College major and a major from another college within Chapman, but you can’t have two Dodge College majors.

Ok, thanks. But do you think this screen acting major is worth it? Would it look better than USC, etc? What do agents/casting directors think of the program?

Okay, I am someone who knows absolutely nothing about the acting world, so take that into consideration in my answer. But, doesn’t it make sense to you that when you go to an audition, they are going to pick the person who is the best actor and who best fits the role? I can’t imagine that they’d care one hoot about where you went to school or even IF you went to school. They just want to see you act. So, I think the right question is not “what will agents/casting directors think of the school”, but rather “which school will teach me to be the best actor?” Chapman’s acting program has not started yet, so there is no way to know how good the program will be.

I agree with timely’s response.

I think it’s obviously a plus if you have any education in screen acting, whether it’s from USC or Chapman. However, all that matters in the end is who is the better actor. It can be somebody who has no education, and I don’t think it ultimately matters to a casting director or agency.

I totally agree 100%. But lets say I want to change career’s, then USC would have a better name. My family have never even heard of Chapmana and we’re in the east coast.
