I know Double Degree has more requirements but can anyone tell me the pros and cons?

Also is it a good choice to double in Engineering (BME) and Olin Business?
Thanks =)

the pros and cons are pretty fuzzy between the two, IMO. To me, adding an extra major like business (let alone an extra degree) sounds pretty tough… If you want to do it you probably can, but get both your advisors asap… Bme students on here would know better than me though

hmm I’ve heard that BME is one of the most demanding majors, so double majoring in that and something else would excruciatingly painful. Im sure its possible, and it would be extremely impressive to pull that off, but you may find yourself with no life outside of studies.

As a BME,

-double majoring would be challenging, but not impossible.
-dual degree-ing would be near impossible, and I’d imagine you’d have to take a 5th year at least.

From how I understand it, it’s not worth it at all to get two bachelor degrees. If you want to double major, go ahead, but I can’t think of any benefit of a dual degree. Actually, I don’t know any dual degree students at WashU at all, unless they were transfers doing a 3-2 program (ie physics at their first school and engineering at WashU in the last 2 years).

Thanks for the responses. I would really like to do double major but I want to see how demanding BME is alone. For the supplemental part, can I just do one major for now and after Freshman year at Washu double up if I feel I can handle it?
I’m afraid that if I don’t tick the double major selection on the app, I wont have a chance to double up if I wanted to.
Thanks

You can always change your major/ add one/ drop one.

WashU is ridiculously accomodating with this.
It really doesn’t matter what you check.

However- checking both engineering (primary) and then business (as your secondary) may give you the opportunity to get an advisor in both schools - so that may be worth it (you can always just drop one of your advisors).
