Engineering and Business

Is this a realistic double major setup? I am thinking of doing this at Wash U. I am good at math, not great (still one of the best in my grade though), so I will probably have to work a little harder than others in the engineering school but I'm sure I can do it. So is mechanical engineering and economics possible or is that too much work? what about ME and finance? And is it better to take buisness classes in artsci or olin? thanks.

I know a TON of people doubling engineering and business. It’s definitely possible.

And I’m not sure which businesses classes through artsci you’re talking about.

I was under the impression that arts and sciences offered econ/finance courses but apparently not.

As Johnson said, it is certainly possible. I dont know about finance, but artsci does have an econ department. However, I think that this econ is different than the “business econ” you’ll find in Olin.

Under majors & minors they have a link leading to a page about business as a second major. This won’t get you a business degree (BSBA) however, that would be a dual degree, which is considerably more work than a double major.

So is it not possible to double major in econ/finance and engineering?

You can’t double major in economics/finance and engineering because economics and finance are two different programs. You can only major in finance and major/minor in economics or engineering, but the minors in engineering are somewhat limited compared to the engineering majors. So if you wish to pursue those three fields, you would probably do well to double-major in finance and engineering and minor in economics. But my guess is that you’ll enter college with that plan and realize in a fairly brief amount of time that you want to focus on only one or two of those fields.

What about a dual degree in Engineering and Business? Is that feasible?
