Hi, I'm an international ED applicant. I was curious about how Early Decision and Double Legacy worked in the admissions process at Northwestern. Is it a huge advantage for me or is it simply a tiebreaker?

For example, if the Northwestern adcoms were torn between a 3.6 UW GPA + 2200 SAT applicant with legacy and a 3.8 UW GPA + 2270 SAT applicant without legacy, would legacy still affect the decision process?

In the context of Early Decision admissions, of course. I heard NU is discontinuing the policy of accept/reject for ED applicants. I hope they at least defer the students with legacy who could have been rejected in previous years.

i was double legacy, and College Prep Program attendee applicant last year. I had a 2190 and a 3.6 UW GPA and was rejected by NU last year during ED. I really don’t think NU puts much emphasis on legacy or interest, its really all down to GPA and SAT scores for ED. They did defer students last year, and many of the deferred students were given admission.
