double major after trasfer?

is it possible?
i know that mathematics and economics majors are
short compare to other majors. and Wanna know
if double major in Mathematics and economics is possible .
even after transfering??

if yes, do i have to apply as math or econ? either one???

Why not apply as a mathematics/econ major? You can apply as either major, but it'd be smart to go in as the less competitive one (which is always math). I believe you have to have prereqs done for both majors to double major.

actually i am preparing for the math/econ major , UCLA
but i just thought the major won't be as deep as
majors individually.
eocn pre are,
macro , micro , calc1, calc2, and other GE stuffs.
got those covered.
math pre are ,
calc1, calc2, calc3, LA, DE , PHYS , CS , other2 sciences.
got those covered except for 2 sciences.

My schedule right now is more focused on math/econ joint major.
do you know if , i can go in as math/econ major , and do
double on mathematics and economics??

You don't apply as a double major. You should apply to math and then petition to double major once you are admitted. I think applying as a math/econ major would only complicate things because you'd have to switch out of the major into something like math and then ask to double major in econ, whereas you can just add econ as a double major if you were admitted as a math major.

Sorry if that sounded really convoluted, haha.

I got that i do not apply as double major .
i meant the joint major that UCLA have.
but yea . i get wut your saying . hm.......

anyone know accept rate for math major . and math/econ major at UCLA????
btw , i am aiming for graduate school. for programs like MFE .. would math/econ joint major be better???
or , math double econ will be better ???

UCLA Undergrad Admissions: Profile of Admitted Transfer Students by Major, Fall 2008

math/econ joint or math+econ double...?

for MFE , or other grad school programs , relating to financial engineering

hey, i'm in the same situation as you. i go to ucsd right now and i am double majoring in math and management science because i agree with you. the joint major just doesnt have enough depth in either subject.

im actually looking to transfer to berk as a math major, and then apply to the econ major, seeing as i have a 4.0 in all econ classes. the tricky part will be getting accepted to cal in the first place :P

also, i want to get an mfe as well haha. my (most likely going to change) plan is to grad from berk with a high gpa double major math and econ, work for 3 years, and then apply to berks mfe and other mf programs.

I just decided to do math/econ. cause from what I heard , econ does not really prepare or look good for MFE or other quant grad programs. Engineering with lots of high level math looks good instead. So my one year plan is for math/econ , and if i fail . I will prepare for engineering instead .
