Double Major Definition

Can someone explain what a double major and is is any different from getting a 2nd Bachelor’s?

You only get one degree (BS or BA) with double major. It’s different from a dual-degree program in which you’ll receive two separate degrees. A few colleges offer coordinated dual-degree programs which makes getting two degrees within four years feasible, with courses that can be used to fulfill the requirements of both degrees.

Double major typically means that you earn a bachelor’s degree (or sometimes two bachelor’s degrees like a BS and a BA) in two majors simultaneously at the same college. For example, a student may double major in math and English while enrolled for eight semesters at a college, earning a BA in math and English at graduation.

Second bachelor’s degree means that you have already earned a bachelor’s degree and completed college, but then later matriculate to college (same or different college) again to earn another bachelor’s degree. For example, a student completes a BA in English and graduates, then later matriculates to the same or different college to complete a BA in math.
