Double major: engineering and finance

Is this a feasible option? I've considered industrial and signaling, but it doesn't encompass what I want. I am currently an electrical engineering major but I really want a degree in finance also. I've also considered a minor in BA but I want more.

Why do you want to do finance?

It makes more sense to do a masters degree instead of two bachelor’s degrees in most cases.

I’m not sure what type of work you would want to do. Can you clarify that?

I don’t see Electrical Engineers doing much financial work unless they are project managers or something of that sort. You don’t need a degree in finance to do that though or so I’ve heard.

yeah, i don’t think that double majoring between two different colleges for things which are totally unrelated is worth it. seconding “why do you want to do finance?”

if you’re interested in financial engineering, just save yourself the trouble and switch to math/stat double major through CLAS and start researching graduate programs.

I would suggest that you speak with the MBA graduate placement office and ask them this question:

What is the value of a graduate in Electrical Engineering going on and getting his or her MBA vs. a minor in Finance then make your decision.

I know what they are going to tell you. And I have a feeling you do as well.
