Double major -- how to apply?

On the online applications that I've started filling out, there is a space for me to choose the school and major that I would like to apply to (usually from a drop down menu). The thing is, I want to double major, but there seems to be no way to indicate this fact in this area of the application. So how can I go about showing this on the application? Would it seem odd that I say I want to major in Metals/Jewelry, but then write an essay about my desire to study Japanese? Along the same lines, at one school it will only allow students applying as freshman to list "art foundations" as their major if they want to go into any of the art programs. Is there any way to make it clear which specific major I'm interested in without relying solely on the essays?

It seems that many people run into issues with this section because they don't know what they want to do. My problem is, I know exactly what I want to do and it's too complicated! Hehehe...

Good question, I'd like to know this as well.

is this for the common app? i seem to remember that i was able to fill in two majors for that.

Nope. It's the school's app.
