Which is better choice in pursuing? A double major in bio sci + chemistry or just Chemistry with biochemistry concentration? They are only 2 lectures + 1 lab in difference so is the double major better pursuing? Has anyone done just the Chemistry with biochemistry concentration major?

My question is why? I hope it is because you really like Bio, chem or the combination if so, cool.

Anyways I think there is a little more difference, at least from glancing at the 4 year plans for both in the catalogue.
The Chem major you wouldn’t be taking less bio (no 93, 94, no 100LW) and just 3 electives, which if you are planning on pre-med I believe you would need to make those 3 electives labs…since you need a year of bio lab(ugh). which means you would have to take 100LW anyways. If your not premed then I’m sure you don’t care.

I am not saying go for the double major though because that schedule looks PACKED and at least with the biochem concentration you would have more time to take some interest classes.
I think you really need to ask your self if you want to study the extra Bio(then double major?) or if you want the general bio and mainly Chemistry/Biochemistry? Though they are very similar…
There is also a biochemistry major if you want the more Bio side of things.

Hope that made some sense, its late and I am tired.

I am a currently a bio major but after taking o-chem i am more interested in chemistry now. I have finished the first two years of bio sci already 93-99 + 100LW. I want to switch to a chemistry major but feel like I worked so hard that I don’t wanna give up the bio major either. Luckily bio 98 and 99 count as chem electives so that didn’t go to waste. As a chem major, you have to go through the P-chem series which also count as 3 upper div bio satellites. The bio 116L and bio 114L labs overlap in both majors so I don’t have to worry about that. I can do either do chemistry with biochem concentration or just do the double major which will take just another 2 extra bio UD lectures and 1 lab. Or I can just stick with the bio major…

Oh wow! ahahaha well then my advice is absolutely useless!
Good luck! But definitely do w/e interests you, your only going to be in college once, learn what you want to learn!

if you can fill in all the classes, why not do the double major? because they’re in such similar fields, i dont think its gonna really help you in job prospects or anything but it wont hurt you.

i wouldnt worry about “giving up” on the bio major or anything. if you arent interested in bio/biochem, then go into chemistry (fields like phys chem or whatever ur interested in).
