Is such a double major popular? Also is it doable, especially those who have actually done it. I know that a lot of people double major but the fact that engineering is so hard and time consuming I'm interested in how popular this combination is.

At my alma mater (Lafayette College) engineers made up about 30-35% of the student body. After that economics was the next most popular major. However, there are not many who do a double major in the two. I suspect it would add at least an extra semester (or maybe even an extra year) to fulfill the requirements of both majors. Another option (not uncommon) might be a BS in engineering and an MBA later on. I actually chose to get an MS in Engineering Management.
