Hi, I’m thinking of declaring a double major in safety management and industrial/mechanical engineering, and I want to know if this is a good combination or not. I’m basically a safety major and I like what I’m doing; however, I believe there is a technical gap that I should fill to become more successful in my future career. Safety deals with engineering stuff, but does not go deeply in the technical part, which I think is very important to be able to address the related hazards. I’m an international student (and have a scholarship from my country). I take 18 hours per semester and my GPA is 3.8. As I know, double majoring is not always good, but there is some good combinations that deserve the efforts, and I want to know whether this one is good or not. Also, I get this conclusion based on some research. I found that corporations in my country are offering safety positions for engineers who have some type of training in safety, which means they would be ahead of me regarding hiring process. What I’m looking for is the advise of engineers, if possible.
Thanks
