i'm a high school student who's greatly interesting in majoring in cs at CMU. however, given how difficult it is to get into SCS, i was wondering what are the opportunities available for me to get into MCS and double major in discrete math and CS? do such students jobs just as well as regular SCS students or will I get shafted? Also, how hard is it to transfer to SCS?

SCS is a tough cookie to get in to, so I would have to assume transferring would not be that easy. But as far as I know, all CS majors are required to have a minor or double major, so I dont see that part being a problem.

hey i’m the same as you, wanting to double major in math and cs. i got in ed for mcs but i’m not really sure if im still considered for scs or not.

i would suggest that you rank both mcs and scs and write about it in your supplement, and since you’re rd, they will consider both and they’ll notify you of which ones you get into. the college you rank higher would kind of depend on your stats+ecs though.
