Hi...I'm interested in double majoring in music education and bio at IU.

Does anyone do this, or know people who do? I'm wondering if it will take four or five years. I do have some AP credit from high school which would count towards english/science/music classes. I would really like to do this, but I'm wondering how rigorous it is. Will I have time to have a life outside of class? I'll be practicing quite a bit to keep up with the performance side of my music major. But I know I'll also need to be studyng a lot for a bio degree.

Any insight is appreciated greatly, thanks!

It would likely take five years, judging from my son's music schedule. So far he has only had time for one non-music class a semester. Of course, for him that is fine, since music is all he wants to major in. The AP credits would certainly help by eliminating some basic requirements. (My son missed getting out of the English composition requirement by one AP score and a few points on the SAT II.) Music is definitely a demanding major, but I'm sure a double major is possible.

I want to do a double major in finance and accounting. I might want to do a minor in computer science as well. Hopefully I will be able to complete this in four years.

I don't think it will be as hard to do a double major in finance and accounting as in music and another area. Music demands a lot of practice and ensemble time not required by other majors.
