Double major in Psychology and Economics?

I am curious what people in the business forum think about this. I know the standard is to pair economics with math but I have always been interested in human behavior as well as the study of money.

As I have stated eleswhere my logic follows that psychology is understanding people and people are the base of the market economy and since as Warren Buffet says fear and the human element drive stock prices (in the short term) almost as much as the numbers do.

Any thoughts, comments, or suggestions on this intended double major (At UNC,NC State, or App State) and its future career possibilitys?

I would say marketing/sales is the field you wanna get into if you desire to enter the business side of things.

Do you plan to get your MBA? If so, I think it is a powerful double major. The successful people I know in business understand the numbers and understand people.

^Agree with this.

Both of these aspects are best sought in the real world, not in the classroom (hence the increasing necessity to have working experience before pursuing an MBA).

Do you think you would have doors open to you if you double-majored in this out of UNC?

Of course UNC is a great school, but people get jobs out of lots of schools. The key is to get good grades, interview confidently and pick a role that would suit your background, interests and strengths. That is pretty universal advice, but funny how people think there is another way. As trizz75 suggests, working a couple years will make the MBA experience all the more meaningful. And an MBA (good school/grades) on top of Econ/Psych would make a person more marketable. Oh, and networking always helps!
