Double major/minor CS

What’s a good minor or a doable double major which would complement a Computer science student who’s interested in graphics and visualization? Thanks!

Minor: Drawing, painting, art, music, math

Major: Not important. It’s better to take graduate classes or do research, intership in CS.

I’d look into studio art, though I wouldn’t do a second major with that because the studios tend to be time intensive to my understanding. You’ll already have time-intensive CS classes which are more important to dedicate your time to.

Definitely take as much math as you can for graphics and visualization. Talk to an adviser or post on the CS club page to get suggestions on specific math classes to take. I’ve heard people say to take applied linear algebra (MAT 167) but am not sure on other classes.

thanks for the suggestions, really appreciate it!

@PhantomVirgo this is completely unrelated but since I’ve seen your responses on other posts to be quite helpful, I thought I’d ask you: do you think taking ECS 60,MAT 21C, Management 11A and a 3 unit GE together would be too much of a workload? Thank you!

That’s a doable workload. If it’s proving to be too much in the first couple weeks, drop the GE. I’d recommend a social science or humanities GE to balance out the other classes.
