Double Major + Minor NEEDED to graduate? Writing + Sociology

The way my school works (SVSU) it requires 124 credits to graduate.

After I finish my major and minor, if I decided to go that route, I would have 91 credits.
If I double majored, I would end up with 103- 107.
So I would still need a 17 to 21 credits to graduate.
Minors are generally around 18 credits.

Would anyone recommend doing a double major and a minor?
Or just completing my major, minor, and then filling in 30+ credits with unrelated courses.
Or doing both of my majors, and then filling in the additional 18 credits with more credits towards one of my majors, even though they wouldn’t be counted that way?

I would be double majoring in Professional & Technical Writing and Sociology. I would still have an abundance of sociology electives to take after completing the requirements for the major.

Is this usual at most schools? For the most logical way to graduate be double majoring?
Just looking for some thoughts if anyone has any!

The point of college is to explore courses that interest you and get a broad education. This means they factor in plenty of space for elective courses So it’s your choice: you could study a wide range of courses that don’t necessarily relate to a degree, or add in another major/minor. Both are valid approaches, and it depends on your personal goals.
