Double Major/Dual Degree Credit Confusion

I’m currently a freshman in my first semester majoring in statistics at my university. Fortunately, I was very successful on my AP tests and I received 40 credit hours towards my degree. The way it stands, I’m set to graduate easily in 3 years, so I started thinking about minors or even double majors. I want to do a double major in computer science but that program is housed under the college of engineering and math is under arts and science. Does anyone have any information concerning how that works? After some research, I think this might be considered a dual degree but the only information I can find on dual degrees only talk about them as planned prior to admission. Can I share classes for electives and the math credits required for both? I have reached out to my academic advisor, but it will be a while before I can meet with them so I’m hoping someone has experience with this or advice for me.

It is up to your university. At my school, this would have been a dual degree (maybe a BS and a BA?) and, at the time, required 150 credits rather than the 124 required for just an arts and science BA. Recently for my daughter, any course required for her major could not be used for a minor or as satisfying a core requirement. A course for a minor could be used as a core requirement.

Things change so you should check with your school.
