Double major or grad classes?

Hello, I am trying to figure out whether I should double major, both majors being in a similar field (politcal interest), or should I just see if I can take grad level classes.

I transfered over from a CC and had about 100 credits when I started at my university. The university requires 60 hours at a 4 year institution with 42 hours upper level class work.

With the completion of the requirements for a major along with all the other required classes, I still have a gap for what I can accomplish. I was thinking a double major in something would look nice, but I am also wondering if grad level classes would be even better for me.

My goal is employment after the university, but I also am going to apply for several grad schools in case my employment aspects do not work out. Not that I want to go to grad school because of not finding work, I do want to go, but wanted to work first to stabilize myself financially better (dang medical bills) and see if a potential employer has some sort of program to assist me with my education.

My background is, if it helps, I am in my 30's, and got out of the military a couple of years ago to pursue a different career.

Thank you.

Only pursue a double major if you love the subject. You can always do a minor to finish your degree quicker so that you can get a job.

If you're really, really serious about the PhD and academia, then take grad classes.

Also since you mentioned you're in your 30s, you must be a little tired of hanging around undergrads. Grad classes are all "adults" who will be closer to your age so you can find friends in that field that you can talk with instead of the immature undergrads.

Otherwise, just double-major :)
