Double major or study abroad?

I'm going to be a third year intended integrative biology major. However, what I am really interested in is sociology. I figured out that I can double major if I get into all my planned classes and take classes in the summer. The problem is that I want to also study abroad but I won't fulfill all my requirements in time if I do. I don't want to stay an extra semester in order to graduate but I am really interested in both options.

What should I choose? Should I just take sociology classes for fun, forget about the major, and study abroad?

Yes. You can always use summer session to make up a class here and there–but missing out on the once in a lifetime chance to go abroad just to slug through the technicalities of double majoring would be a let-down. go ahead and take those fun classes–you’re interested in the subject as you said, and that’s all that matters. ask anyone the one thing they wish they did in college or was the most educational experience and both will say “studying abroad”.

If you are not planning to use your sociology major later in your career, just take the soc classes you’re interested in here, go study abroad, and take some more soc classes in the country you’re studying in.
