I’ve narrowed down my interests for college, either Mathematics, Economics, or International Relations/Studies. If I pursue two majors, I would like to pair Economics or IR with Math, but I would also be open to getting a major in one category and getting a minor in the other two. I would like to study abroad in college, and I would like to possibly work in the government or for a large corporation after I graduate, so should I major in Economics with a language and an international emphasis or IR with an economic emphasis? Should I double major in Econ and Math? Or minor in math and get an international emphasis? OR major in IR and minor in both Econ and Math?
IMO don’t major in IR, I think it looks less impressive on your diploma/resume than Econ or math.
This is really going to be up to your career goals and interests. You could study abroad, work in government or a large corporation with any of those three majors. International relations isn’t necessarily less impressive than economics or math - it depends entirely on what job you’re applying for. (A government agency who is hiring a specialist to analyze the interconnections of Southeast Asia, for example, may prefer an international relations major to a math or economics major.) However, math/statistics is a good skill to have, and so is economic analysis, especially if you care about higher-paying jobs.
