Anyone knows if it costs more to do double major at Rutgers? What if I want to do the dual degree program from 2 different schools?
I plan to do Philosophy with either Computer Science (SAS) or Computer Engineering (SOE). Anyone can give me advice on this? I never actually like Engineering that much, but from what I’ve heard the ECE department at Rutgers is somewhat better than CS department at SAS - highly ranked and more opportunities and all. And I would be willing to do the engineering part if I can best prepare myself for CS work force. Can someone from either department tell me your perspective on this? Why did you choose one and not the other?
Thanks!
Anyone can help me with this? How about doing double major Philosophy with ECE (CE route) with a minor in CS, does this sound crazy?
It’s not crazy, especially if you will have a bunch of AP credit coming in, otherwise it may take five years. If you want to do ECE, you have to be an SOE student. You cannot double major in an engineering major while being an SAS student. You could be in SAS and double major in philosophy and comp sci as they are both majors administered by SAS.
It does not cost extra to double major. I can’t confirm if that is the same for dual degree, but honestly I would strongly advise doing the double major route rather than dual degree, especially if you will be an SOE student. By doing this, you avoid having to do the extensive humanities requirements that come with being an SAS major but still get that double major designation on your transcript. You just have to fulfill all of the requirements for SOE and then only the major requirements for the philosophy major.
