I was wondering if it was impossible to double major in college and have one of your majors be an independent/interdisciplinary major. I know it’s an odd scenario but I was just wondering if colleges are against that combination in general.
Typically, there are few hard-and-fast rules about which two majors you can study together, as long as it is possible to complete in the time frame you want to spend in college. So yes, there’s usually no real reason why you couldn’t major in public policy and economics or public policy and statistics.
In practice, though, the point of an independent major is for you to put together a program of study that encompasses the areas you need. So I think the question would be - why would you choose to do this, rather than just augment your independent major?
