I would like to double major in chemical engineer and fine arts or computer science and fine arts . how many credit hours will I take to be able to graduate in 4 years and how hard will it be ,will I have to pay more tuition ?

It depends on your school.

well I would like to go to the American University in Beirut , do u have any Idea ?

Perhaps you should ask the folks at American University in Beirut then.

well unfortunatly I dont know anybody from there and I am not living in lebanon nor I am lebanese and my main question is about double majoring not the college itself

People double major every day. I’m sure you wouldn’t be the first to do engineering and fine arts. Go for it, if it’s allowed and feasible where you go to school. Check the school’s website for information on double majoring and program requirements.

Why do you want the double major? I don’t see where a second major in fine arts is going to be of any incremental value (other than your obvious interest). Seems to me whether you are majoring in ChemE or CS, you will be pretty busy. Do the best you can with that major and take all the fine arts electives you can.

OP: This forum is great for general questions about engineering education or practice, but what you are asking is a very specific question tied to a very specific school that is probably not well represented here on CC. Ultimately, if no one here has experience with the school (as is likely), all we can do is do the same things you are doing, and that is not what most of us are here for.

Good luck!

@agerisomina : Thankyou so much for your encourgement realy needed it
@geo1113 : yes acutaly I love to draw and want at somepoint to sell my paintings in gallery’s and so on but also my parents want me to have sth more stable and I tend to agree with them so I was thinking on going for both anyway thanks for your advice I apperaciated
@cosmicfis: as I have mentioned before in my latest post I am not requiring information about double majoring in the college itself I am asking about the experience the general experience on double majoring :)

OP: You said
There are people who can comment on “how hard will it be” based on their own experiences at different schools, but the others are college specific questions, and it is to those I was referring - only the American College of Beirut knows what their policy is in regards to double-major credit loads and tuition.

Try checking the university’s web site for the following:

A. Number of total credits or courses you can take before graduation.
B. Number of credits or courses needed for the first major.
C. Number of credits or courses needed for the second major, not overlapping with the first major.
D. Number of breadth or general education credits or courses needed which are not fulfilled by either major.
E. Nunber of courses or credits that you can fulfill by advanced credit before starting.

If B+C+D-E < A, then it is doable.

Thank you ucbalumnus anybody else has an opinion to share ?
