I am a senior in high school thinking of applying to Northwestern. I am incredibly interested in the theater program, yet I don’t have any theater experience in high school. I also would like to do a major in the college of arts&sciences. Would I be able to apply to CAS and then add a minor/double major in theater later on?
The theatre minor is available for students in Weinberg (the College of Arts & Sciences). So if you were admitted to Weinberg, you could add a minor in theatre.

“With a minor in theatre, you’ll have the opportunity to explore your interests with courses in acting for non-majors as well as classes in voice and movement, stage production, directing, dance, playwriting, set, costume, lighting design, theatre history, literature and criticism.”

Here’s more info on the minor:

I think it’s unlikely that you’d be able to double major in theatre, since the theatre program is extremely competitive to get into and I believe you’d have to be admitted to the School of Communication’s theater program to major in it. But the minor is definitely available. There are also many, many performances on campus per year, and nonmajors can audition for most of them (not the mainstage theatre ones), and can work on tech, etc. for many of them.
