Does double majoring at Duke grant two actual degrees, or just one degree and information regarding the second on your transcript (kind of similar to Brown's double major scenario)?

Also, can someone double major at Duke and graduate in 4 years?

I don’t know about the first part, but you can still graduate in 4 years.

You can graduate in even less than 4. I am a Neuroscience and Biology double with a Chemistry minor and I could graduate in 3.5 years if I cared to.

Yes, you can double major and graduate in 4 years. It’s not uncommon, although obviously it’s tougher to combine more difficult majors. In Trinity you have to have at least one major (obviously) and you can also have minors and certificate programs up to a total of 3. So you can have a double major with a minor or a certificate, or a major with up to two minors or certificates. As far as I know, you are awarded one degree that shows both your majors, unless you earn two different degrees (i.e. a B.A. and a B.S., or a B.S.E. if you are in Pratt). I’m not sure why it matters, though, how many pieces of paper you get.

regarding double majors, you’re gonna get one piece of paper, and one major is going to be your “primary” major, and the other is going to be your second major. there’s intricacies about what this all means, but it’s one degree

do you pay extra $ for double-major program, or just pass 34 courses that fulfill your major and distribution requirements?

You pay the same tuition regardless of how many classes you take.

You earn only one degree regardless. If you major in both a BS subject and a BA subject, you are awarded a BS.

You will attend the joint graduation ceremony on the football field (our speaker was Oprah…her godson was in the class of 09)…and your family will then walk to another location and you will have a graduation ceremony with only your majors…and that is where you walk on stage and get your photo made. Our son was an Econ major which is a big group in the undergrad school…so he graduated in Cameron Stadium in his Major ceremony
