Hey guys! I’m (probably) going yo UC Davis next year and major in Civil Engineering.

I was wondering if double majoring would be madness? I would like to major in French as well (I’m already fluent… but eh why not?). Is there any other major I could major in? I don’t know if its a good idea to do that…

It is completely possible. I know a guy who’s double majoring in Biomedical Engineering and Communication. Granted, he will be going into his fifth year and has taken summer classes his whole college career, but he finds that Communication classes provide a nice buffer for his GPA since engineering classes are pretty darn hard to ace, heh. (According to him, he has never gotten anything lower than an A- in Communication.) So hey, if you’re good at French…

You’ll likely be working internationally if you go through with engineering, so having a language up your sleeve would be pretty handy.

And of course, you can always choose to do a minor (or two… maybe even three? Probably harder as an engineering major) instead.

No problem. You can do anything as long as you complete the required classes! There’s a unit cap of 225 though (AP credits don’t count toward this, but community college credits do), so if you have a major that requires a lot of units, it will be less plausible.
