Double Majoring: Economics and Communications

I know UOP has a great Pharmacy program, but I don't know a lot about its economics and communications majors. I want to double major in economics and communications and was wondering if it is worth going to UOP? Thank you!!

@senior2015 Worth it is pretty subjective. It is a good school and the most beautiful campus I’ve ever walked. My answer depends on the financial aid package and your price sensitivity. (you are going to study Econ).

The head of Cisco sent his kids there. A $50k tuition bill is a drop in the bucket for him. For people with thinner wallets that’s a big bill, about 9X a CSU’s tuition.

My son was accepted as an Econ major a few years ago. He was offered no help with the cost. We were looking at $65k per year to attend. We’ll cover all 4 years at Chico State for about that amount. IMHO, the quality of education and reputation in the job market (for these programs) favors Chico. Since I am very price sensitive, that’s where he went. (He felt UOP was too small so he didn’t argue). He is a sophomore @ Chico, switched to a Business Major and loves it.

As I recall, just 15% of students pay full tuition. If you’ve got significant aid, that changes the conversation - particularly if you love the school. I will caution - I know people who’ve had their aid package shrink at UOP. One went from full ride to no support half way through her sophomore year.

Good luck
