Double Majoring With International Affairs

The Op might also look at business. Running a law firm is a business and many lawsuits are business related.

Just so people know in case it isn’t painfully obvious right off the bat… you probably shouldn’t listen to a word antipacifist says, he’s something of a ■■■■■ for the STEM majors and doesn’t have any respect for (or sees the necessity for) fields outside those.

@aind - Maybe double major in Political Science with a minor in Cultural Linguistics, specialized to the place you want to study/influence the politics of. So whether that’s French, Spanish, Latin, Japanese, or Arabic, you’d be able to work as a translator. To that end it wouldn’t hurt to take Anthropology courses because those teach you how to integrate into other societies. Depends on how deep you want to get into their culture/how much influence/impact you want to have on them.

I would agree with a minor in Economics. If you decide not to go to law school you can easily get a job at a large corporation working in their international department, and you certainly wont be living below the poverty line.

just want to say a few things in favor of an International Affairs major. There are numerous amazing opportunities for IA majors in the non-profit sector! You can do an IA major and focus on international law, international aid and development, regional studies and so on, and each of these concentrations can be applied in many different ways. You can go into research (there are quite a few of the world famous IA research institutes in the US, like CATO Institute) or you can work on-site (for example, the UN has tens of entities, some of them focus on particular aspects of international law, some focus on international trade etc.). I totally agree that IA is very interdisciplinary, but I think you just need to pick the right concentration…
I’ve changed my major from Marketing to IA and have been happy with this choice. It gave me the opportunities I had not even dreamed of, like winning trips to other continents and meeting world-famous people… It has changed my whole life. So I’m sure that IA major has a lot of potential.
