Downloading

My friend was able to download movies that haven't even been released in the theaters yet for free and I was wondering how he was able to do it? If anyone out there knows I'd love to find out.

What he's doing is illegal, so I wouldn't recommend it . . .

torrents...

not so much "free" as stealing them...

When you steal movies you are downloading communism!

Why don't you just ask him...

Alex

What do you mean? Talk to a FRIEND? O_o That's unpossible!

Well, he won't tell me, that's why I started the thread.

He uses some sort of filesharing method, likely torrents. Just because he hasn't been caught, though, doesn't make it legal. BitTorrent (protocol) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia This article will explain anything and everything you need to know about torrents.

not that i use torrents, but cc'ers seem to always be very self-righteous

movie nabolister.com

stuff always leaks, it's almost always possible to get movies/music before the release date.

The mexican guy standing in the corner selling watermelons always knows somebody who knows somebody who can get you the DVD Hi-Def version of a movie that hasn't even been filmed yet. I just bought "Rocky IX" for $5.

Kidding.

Seriously though, there are 3 ways (all illegal, mind you):
- warez forums
- torrents
- p2p filesharing

The thing is, if you're inexperienced enough that you had to ask people how to do it and couldn't figure it out yourself, you will likely screw yourself.

I say there's a 99% chance you will either:
a) Get caught and be forced into a settlement where you pay big money to the MPAA
b) Get virus/spyware on your PC, which will then lead to identity theft
c) both

So do it at your own risk.

bump............

No need to bump this. Everything has been explained, and as people has said, such action is not advisable.

it's torrents ...and not legal...there are SOOO many people doing it..that very few people get caught (not a good reason? eh...anyway, the truth is a lot of people is doing it and don't get caught!)
