Drake University

I have looked through these forums and I haven't found much information on Drake. I had some questions about the school.

How is the on campus food?

How are the academics and how rigorous is it?

Why does Drake not offer majors in Economics or Foreign Languages?

How popular are fraternities and sororities and do students often feel left out if they are not in one?

Also of anyone here attends, attended, or knows someone who has attended or will be attending Drake, I would like to get their opinions.

I would like to know too, so BUMP :)

I live near Drake and the Academic Quality is great. One of my friends went to Drake and said the food was pretty good. I do not know if either of you have been on a tour of campus, but it is generally pretty nice. The worst thing about Drake is the Freshman dorms are straight out of 1961. They are really old and have no a/c. My friend went to Drake absolutly loved it and got over the dorms and facilities. I would definetly recommend it. The community is the strongest part of Drake.

^^^bump^^^

I will be a freshman at Drake in the fall. They have redone the dorms!!! (air conditioning is amazing now). Freshman dorms have communal bathrooms… I’m not that excited. I hear its an experience.
The campus is very pretty but not the biggest. Winters are cold. They have a good pharmacy program. I, personally, will probably be pre-med. They also attract many actuarial science majors.
About 25% of the students are involved in Greek life. Drake relays are the BEST. Overrall, it’s a decent school. Ranked 7 for value, by US news and world report I believe, in value for your dollar.
Also, the president of the school, President Maxwell is amazing.

Oh, and the food at drake is definitely above average!
