Drama Program Transfer?

Hey y'all! I'm sure you don't need to hear my story, so I'm going to spare you. But the short version is that I'm currently at a school that 1) didn't have my original first choice major in the first place and 2) doesn't have a good theater/drama department. However, I'm still in the UC system so I was thinking of trying to transfer to a program at UCI, UCSD, or UCLA, or USC (I have the Trojan Transfer option there). Does anyone have any knowledge of anyone doing so? Any tips? Warnings? I know that a lot of places have a 4 year drama/theater program so if that's the case at these places, is there anyway around that? Thank you!

Have you asked this in the theater/drama majors forum? If not, go to the main page that lists all of the forums, and scroll down until you find it with the other college majors.

Usually only BFA’s are 4 years. BA’s are generally more flexible (with the exception of UCLA which only has a theatre BA andno BFA and is conservatory style). I would say research all these schools theatre programs and figure out which one is the best fit for you.
I just into USC Theatre BA as a CCC transfer. If you like USC you’ve got the Trojan transfer plan which is great.

My tips for applying is just to really express why you want to go to that school, and why their theatre program is the best fit for you, and your goals and passions and stuff. Hope this helped a bit!
