I have a pretty slim foot, the sandals were true to size for me. Why do they think that there are no 10.5 around? Stinks that they only offer in a 10 or an 11
I did order the blouse, I have another rayon blouse. I wear a cami under it. I don’t wash it that much and it’s held up very well.
No cheap dry cleaners here, we had one where I lived before. I was so shocked the first time I went to the dry cleaners here and paid $12 for a dress.
I got the blouse below at Nordstrom last month and I still haven’t had a chance to wear it yet. I did try it on with my favorite dark wash skinny AG Jeans and cute black Madewell slides and it looked good. If we go to the outdoor patio of our favorite brewery this weekend maybe I’ll wear it finally.
It is a cord skirt and I was thinking of pairing it in the fall with mid-calf length or shorter boots (of which I have none yet) like the blue denim skirt model is wearing in the same link. But I also like the chunky neutral wedges as something interesting to consider.
I looked at DSW with the filters as @conmama suggested which was really helpful. Having only shopped in the last several years for shoes with good orthotic support and not much in the way of looks, I wasn’t sure what to look for. Y’all have given me some great suggestions. Thanks.
I think the sizing is pretty normal. I have had a pair of their flatter sandals for a couple of years and I like how light and comfortable they are. All the styles cross the feet in different places so I found that some fit me better than others. My mom has a couple of pairs that she thinks are comfortable too.
I’ve had a number of pairs over the years- no new ones in the last couple of years. I agree that the different styles fit differently. I had better luck with in-store trying on. I think they make good shoes.
I’m going to reverse my suggestion on the cord skirt. I wouldn’t put any open toe or sandals with that particular skirt. Maybe, maybe an open toed bootie, but I’d have to see it.
I recently found those Charleston shoes and sadly read reviews indicating that people’s feet slid forward in them. Which I know for me means that elastic or not, they won’t work on my narrow-ish feet. I do like sandals with lots of straps for more support. @AnAsmom, I have found Born shoes to me comfortable and supportive when they fit me. If you are used to wearing orthotics for support but still somewhat cute, you might look at the Munro brand.
Not with the “dressing young” theme, but my daughter sent me the LLBean moc slippers, got them today. Why did it take 61 years for me to get the best at home footwear ever?
@conmama That LB link you sent is very similar to what I wore with my navy cord skirt but with higher heels. Brought back some memories!
My first thought was boots, but I’m finding the idea of wearing the wide strapped wedges with the skirt intriguing.
So I’ve been looking at boots and wedges online at Nordstrom and Rack. Found a few that I liked but aren’t at my local stores. I also like the Charleston shoes and the Munro shoes that @orangepurple and @Hoggirl linked. They do look comfortable while still cute.
My D has ruled out all the shoes I currently own — she says they’re simply too ugly and frumpy — so I need to get something to wear with that skirt.
But… I’m a little concerned about the sizing of brands that are new to my feet. Also a bit leery of buying any shoes sight unseen right now and too worried to go shoe shopping in person.
I haven’t found one that stands out as perfect? I‘d like to try each one and walk around in them. How do you shop for shoes during this pandemic? I’m bad with returns and I simply cannot think of dropping $$$$ on shoes just to try them.
@AnAsmom Zappos and Amazon are my shoe return favorites. Fast delivery and Free returns (always for Zappos, most for Amazon).I just box them up and drop off at UPS. I went through dozens of them trying to find cute but comfy walking sandals for a Italy several years ago. I thought they would block me!
I agree with @conmama Zappos is the way to go if they have what you want. A few years ago when my S got married I must have ordered 20 pairs before I found something that was comfortable and looked good with my dress.
Thanks, all. I’m going to give Zappos a shot. And maybe one pair from Nordstrom as well. It’s too bad I have no special occasions coming up — DH would have an apoplectic fit if I ordered all the shoes I liked at Nordstrom.
I like these boots at Nordstrom but think that it may be too matched with the skirt. Also, not familiar with the brand.
zappos and Nordstrom for sure. Try on a bunch and return them.
I bought running shoes from a local shoe store during the pandemic shutdown–I went with the updated version of ones that previously worked. The store had two sizes ready for me and let me in to try them on because no one else was there–I thought I would buy both and return one. I could tell right away which one was better. That worked out fine, but I think fit for sandals is harder and I would want to have them at home to walk around in for a while and easy returns. When I buy sandals in a shoe store, I take a while to really walk around the store and I don’t think that type of slow shopping is available in my area right now.
As far as those Charleston shoes, one reason I liked the flatter version was less sliding forward. The wedges are cuter but they have to fit exactly right to avoid sliding forward.
Anyone else previewing the Nordstrom sale online? I can’t think of much I would buy beyond underwear. I’m noticing lots of bralettes. Wonder if it’s a response to work from home.
Trying to make a point of dressing beyond exercise wear, today I’m wearing this https://www.nordstrom.com/s/zella-post-studio-dress/4750068?color=grey%20heather in black. It’s super comfortable for lounging yet nice enough to go out.
I love all the heeled and wedged sandals but I’m finding my life is stuck in the flat sandals lane. I often go out or to the office and stop for a walk along the shoreline. I find my Teva sandals or Allbird sneakers work well for the walk but aren’t the most stylish with a dress.
