Dressing Young (Part 1)

@surfcity https://www.amazon.com/bogs-clogs/s?k=bogs+clogs More $$$ but they have solids. My run-out-the-door footwear is either black Dansko clogs or my unlined half-height dark gray wellies. I would cringe behind my door if I had to wear some of those prints.

Thanks for the feedback on the joggers. Itā€™s possible that joggers are not for me. I am actually sort of anti-pants - Iā€™m someone who prefers either leggings or dresses/skirts with tights. Guess I just might start wearing my footless tights sooner rather than later!

How about that - any one else prefer footless tights or a thinner or not so substantial legging to wear under dresses/skirts! Have any recommendations?

@Midwest67 I usually wear them every day once itā€™s too cold for flip flops, unless itā€™s torrential rain (then Iā€™ll put on rain boots) or heavy snow. So light rain, etc. Mostly on the driveway and walkway, no lawn if itā€™s muddy or real wet.

Crocs have holes in them so they are a no go (plus Iā€™m not a fan). I like the Merrillā€™s linked here and on a cost per wear basis it works out well. Or the Birkenstockā€™s. Or pick a print and assume I generally wonā€™t run into someone

The Slogger clog I mentioned above, in black: https://smile.amazon.com/Sloggers-Womens-Premium-Garden-260KW08/dp/B006GKBQPG/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=slogger&qid=1600223168&sr=8-1&th=1

I have the shoes, not the clogs, in a fairly sedate black with lavender polka dots.

LOL - My ā€œbackdoor-shoesā€ are an old pair of sneakers without the laces (well, actually the laces are still there, just removed from lower few eyelets and loosely tied). They actually go back and forth between back door and front door because I do gardening in both places. I do same with an old pear of sandals to worn out for pavement use.

I wear a lot of footless tights/leggings @abasket. Iā€™m in a warm climate, but we do get chilly weather, so I need booties or other ankle high shoes for the footless tights. Otherwise, I do the footless leggings with flats.

@abasket - here are some Old Navy joggers that I really like. I am not an Old Navy shopper but saw these on a much younger than me, stylish woman in my neighborhood and asked what brand they were. I ended up buying 2 pairs- they are very thin and lightweight which I was looking for in beginning of summer. They also have pockets with a zipper which I love:

My problem is that Iā€™m really tall - just under 6 feet- so some of the joggers hit me just below the knee, which is not a good look.

Nevermind, LOL.

@leftrightleft gosh while I wouldnā€™t wear them to work and I donā€™t usually do camo those green/blue camo are really cute!!! How was the sizing?

My All Bird wool loafers are easy to slip on and off. Not sure if those would do for back door shoes or not, in your situation.

I also have a pair of Birkenstock professional clogs (hard plastic). Great for work (restaurant) and good to slip on quickly to take out the garbage, etc.

Darn, the reviews for the coloring on the camos isnā€™t positiveā€¦

Today on my FB feed I came across a bag company I hadnā€™t heard of Shortylove. Iā€™m sure I was targeted because I looked at the Rothy bags. The crossbody nylon bags look nice but expensive. Anyone heard of them?
Has anyone actually been inside a real brick and mortar clothing store since Covid started?

@mom60

Yes, Iā€™ve been to Old Navy & our local thrift store.

Iā€™m really not much of a shopper.

@mom60 Iā€™ve been to a couple of stores at the outdoor mall near our home. I went during the week when it was not busy at all.

@abasket - I think they run a bit large. I did not buy the camo - I bought black and olive. I wanted navy but they did not have back in June.

And, no I havenā€™t been inside a clothing store but Iā€™ve done most of my clothing shopping online the past few years. Iā€™ve taken advantage of curbside pick up from Nordstrom recently.

Oops. I lied. I also went to the outlet mall when I needed interview shirts.

Nope to clothing stores unless Costco counts.

When all this started I did tons of online shopping. I needed a lot and the sales were great. Iā€™m not buying as much right now but have been going to the store more than ordering online. J McLaughlin is one of my favorite stores and Iā€™ve been there a few times, especially for their end of summer sale. Iā€™ve also been to Nordstrom and Talbots.

I have a couple neighborhood friends who sell Carlisle and Etcetera clothing with home shows. Their businesses have really suffered. I didnā€™t go to Carlisle this year, but did go see the Etcetera collection and ordered a couple fall items. Theyā€™ve always tried to space appointments out so they can give a lot of personal attention but it was still a bit of a social occasion as much as a shopping trip. Now, of course, they only schedule one person at a time so it was a little different experience.

Iā€™m doing all my shopping online. My current mission is to replace all the worthless, pocketless pants in my closet with ones that have pockets. I took stock of my closet and even the pants with pockets are practically useless at holding anything more than a single key ring. My aim is to be able to go outside purse free.

Iā€™m taking style advice from my D and my niece whoā€™s even younger so all the stores/brands Iā€™ve looked at are skewing younger. Adidas, Athleta, Lululemon, Aerie.

Absolutely favorite purchase: Fits well, so comfy and best of all has deep zippered pockets. This should probably be in the Amazon hits list.

I would get these but they are sold out in my size. Iā€™m not a big fan of camo so not too disappointed. Both Aerie (and American Eagle) have good sales if you can find your size.
