Dressing Young (Part 2)

If you want to wear a skirt with this top, go for a white denim pencil skirt. Anything poufy or a-line will make you look like a snowman. Speaking from experience. :joy:

Those eyelet pants are adorable!

wow amazing suggestions! I have never seen embroidery like that on jeans. must explore ā€¦

Yes, it is the rise of the waist that seems to make all the difference. Definitely more flattering for me.

Iā€™d wear cigarette pants (I think thatā€™s what theyā€™re called) with that top. It is so cute, btw.

I went to the mall on Saturday and saw that our Sundance store has now closed. I used to like to go in and try on the things I liked in the catalog, but Iā€™m not surprised that they closed. The store was never very busy and the staff (pre-pandemic) was terrible at customer service. Still I hate to see it go from our mall.

I want Soozie to be my personal shopper. :yellow_heart:

@ShamrockLotus While I do not own any of the pants I linked too, I do have embroidered jeans!

@showmom858 I wasnā€™t even aware that Sundance has retail brick and mortar stores. I do shop their catalogue (though it ainā€™t cheap) and have for years. I do all my clothes shopping online actually (or with catalogues).

Iā€™ve never had embroidered jeans but will be on the lookout when Iā€™m ready to replace the huge stack of jeans I currently have.

@soozievt Below is a list of their stores. They closed the one I used to go to in San Diego, but it looks like the are opening one in Palm Desert. They donā€™t have too many locations.

Interesting. There is a Sundance in Park Meadows Mall south of Denver, not too far from my daughter. Maybe I will have to visit some time, before they close too.

@showmom858 Oh! That explains why I have never seen one of their stores as I have always lived in the Northeast or Middle Atlantic States. I used to go to Palm Desert yearly as that was my parentsā€™ second home, but they are no longer living and so I never go anymore.

What can I say? Iā€™m just a huge fan of the clothes at White House/Black Market?

I ordered this blouse that is on sale, and I think it is GORGEOUS. I generally do not wear these off the shoulder, and they still look great. Can do the half tuck thing to make them a little less flowy in the front.

Check local vintage or thrift shops for embroidered jeans/clothing.

conmama - I like those combos a lot - agree that a solid color of clothes underneath (either white shirt/bottoms or black) would undercut the flowiness and look very sharp.

Cute ideas, soozievt for ShamrockLotusā€™ top! My take - Iā€™d belt the flowy top (although it might gather and ruin the line - depends on the fabric). Agree with others - either belted or not, straight cut capris, pencil skirt, or cigarette pants (a la Audrey Hepburn) would counterbalance the flowiness and look great!

I love this top!

Seems silly to belt a flowy topā€”either ā€œgo with the flowā€ or opt for a different style. Flowy can be soft and romantic plus cooler.

When I saw the photos of the embroidered jeans, my first thought was, ā€œEverything old is new again.ā€ I remember similar embroidered jeans, cut-offs and overalls being popular in the beach town where I lived as a teenager many decades ago. I couldnā€™t embroider so instead used floral and other (smiley, peace sign, Mickey Mouse head) embroidered appliques on my cut-offs in the summer.

I hear you HImom. I have tried and tried to wear flowy tops without looking ā€˜poofyā€™ and waaay bigger than normal (or pregnant) - without success. Maybe Iā€™m projecting that onto others who can carry itā€¦lol
