Dressing Young (Part 2)

My 22 year old, gen Z, daughter thinks skinny jeans are out, but what the heck do they know? They’re wearing 90s era mom jeans that make your butt look 2 feet long. Skinny jeans are flattering. I also have girlfriend style jeans for perusing the farmers market on a Sunday morning, but if I want to look put together, it’s skinny jeans or bootcut.

Conclusion: never purge your jeans out if your closet. The going out of fashion style will be baaack. :sunglasses:

I like to have various styles depending on weather, where I’m going and what footwear I’m wearing. So yes, I still have some skinnies in my closet. Actually, my college senior daughter who typically wears the high waisted, straight leg, etc still has a pair of skinnies- needed for business casual events with a blazer.

Great discussion @conmama .

Def agree with @deb922 that influencers to make $$ have to keep developing new trends - or at least product for people to buy.

I will still wear skinny jeans. And I think as long as leggings and athleisure wear are popular, skinny jeans will remain a part of closets because they can be the next best thing to leggings when you CAN’T wear leggings for an outing!

I have been on the lookout for a pair of mid to high waist cropped flare jeans. I’m terrible about going to a store anymore. If anyone like @conmama has a link to ones you have purchased please post! My caveat is that I do not want distressed (like torn in spots) ones.

These are what I ordered. Haven’t come in yet.

I actually like these a lot! Do you have regular or curvy? Size runs normally? Do they have a little stretch to them?

I like that the back pockets are plain, a pet peeve of mine that I don’t like embellished pockets in anyway!

I have regular, they are sized normally and the fabric has some give/stretch (I wear a size 10/30 waist).

I have the same kick crop jeans as @DeeCee36 except mine are a different wash. These are the ones I have but mine do not have a button fly. I guess they sold out of the ones I have which have the zip fly like DeeDee’s. I’ve actually only worn mine a couple of times as jeans weather has only just begun and I bought them at the beginning of summer (I never wear jeans in warm weather). They are very comfortable!

I also have these and wear these all the time. My 17 y/o, who wears the ugly high waisted jeans that all teens wear, gave me the thumbs up when I originally bought them. My 23 y/o daughter, visiting from San Diego this week, just saw me wearing them and asked where I got them b/c she wanted a pair :slightly_smiling_face:

@abasket what I like about Loft jeans is that many of their styles are available in petite as well as curvy. I just looked and kick crops I bought are regular and not petite. The ones linked below I did buy the petite in curvy. For me, it’s trial and error whether to get curvy or not, based on the cut of the pants - some I wear regular, others curvy. I usually buy petite, especially for pants that are meant to be regular length, not cropped.

Lol, I’m laughing at the description : “Chewed hem”

We have a Loft store in town and I will be in that area later this week so I may just stop in and see what they have in person. Hopefully will still have some cropped!

Unrelated, but I’m feeling so fashion-forward as I sit reading this article in the shoes I’ve been wearing for 3 years….

I just cannot spend money on new jeans with holes, or chewed hems, or let down hems, or look unfinished, etc. , etc.
No.
I have plenty of old jeans with holes or chewed hems.

Putting in that Poshmark is great to find those trends you aren’t sure about.

If you know your size, I will look for a style I know I won’t wear a ton.

I think that you will still see skinny jeans because they are very versatile and easy to style.

I’ve decided that jeans with holes are too much trouble. The holes expand and tear. You have to be so careful with them and they are cold in the winter. I’m not as hung up on chewed hems and raw hems are easy to shorten.

I’m in big trouble when leggings go out of style (for exercising). I own lots of them.

A search for “skinny jeans” on the Nordstrom site produced 2,000 results. If even 1/2 of them are relevant, skinny jeans still have a lot of fashion mileage in them.
