Drexel EA 2024

@collegemom202x calendars for the next 2 years are on the website under “office of the provost”

@SJ8218 I’m aware. I was just explaining it simply since I assumed they knew about the quartering system

not to be too nit-picky but Drexel awards both BS and BA degrees. All of their arts ones are BS, however, because it’s less in-depth than a BFA but more so than a BA (just in terms of arts programs).

@kkmmom don’t freak out! Tons of students get deferred. They probably just want to compare his application to RD students before making a decision since it’s a popular major.

Thanks @izrk02 ! So based on the calendar… 2-week winter break, 1.5-week mid-summer break.

That sounds about right (at least that is what I remembered when I went there about 3 decades ago). Drexel is a very fast pace University since it is about 11 weeks per quarter. Because of this, a year may not equate the same as the typical Universities. I recalled some of my peers being frustrated when transferring out because it’s not a 1 to 1 credit for a lot of the courses.

Does anyone know if you end up paying for 5 years or because of the co-op do you pay for 4?

You end up spending the same amount of time in the classroom over 5 years as you would in 4 years at a non co-op school. The co-ops are 3 x 6 months; and usually paid (and often paid well).

5 years with 3 co-op means you are enrolled and pay for 5 years tuition. To simply put, if a student plan to attend Drexel’s 4 or 5 years with co-op program, you are basically committing to be a full time all year round student over the next 4 or 5 years. The only extended break you get is the summer after the first year.

@Bkmomto3 @SJ8218 that’s not true. You do not pay tuition for quarters that you are out on co-op. They do tuition billing by quarter, so you only get charged for the ones that you are on campus or study abroad.

Just got into Biomed Engineering and offered provisional acceptance to 5 yr BS/MS program, but unsure if I’m headed there as cost of attendance is still very high.

Thanks @SJ8218

@hopingforbest11 - Congrats. What was your stats?

Actually it’s fashion program is 10th in the world and 6th in the US

Anyone on the west coast get there welcome letter in the mail yet?

Same for my son. Accepted for the 5 years BS/MS accelerated program for Bio Med. Do you know if one can be in this program and apply for honor’s college?

He got his U Michigan acceptance today so Drexel is getting push down the list unless he is not getting any merits at all from U Michigan.

would 42K in merit and need based aid be considered a decent award from Drexel?

It really depends on the break down of what the $42K consists of. If the bulk of it is from merit and Drexel grant, that’s pretty good. Just note that it’s still about $30K for that first year.

Got excepted into the school of engineering. They gave me enough money so that it’s similar to any instate college (because I live out of state). GPA - 4.0. SAT - 1280. ACT -26 (taken only once). NHS, Student Senate, Technology Honors Society, Spanish Honors Society.

I got into 4 year, 1 co-op program. My major is Nursing. My stats are 3.4 unweighted, 4.25 weighted. 1260 SAT. Lots of extracurriculars, volunteer work and leadership positions.
