I wonder why I didn’t get into the honors program lol @Emotive@baxter@priya107 anyone know what they wanted for the honors college, and how many people usual get in?
By the way, I’ve heard that Drexel awards full tuition scholarships for National Merit Finalists on top of other awarded scholarships. Can anyone confirm this?
The NMF scholarship award, which was even stacked with other awards in past years to give full or near full rides, disappeared from their website a few months ago. Drexel claimed NMSC made them pull it, but when NMSC was contacted it appeared to only be an issue with the way Drexel named the scholarship that infringed on an NMSC trademark or copyright. Subsequent contacts by parents posted in other places on this site resulted in inconsistent and non-committal answers from Drexel. To my knowledge the NMF Scholarship offer has not reappeared anywhere on Drexel’s website since it was pulled, nor is there any other official mention of it. If you hear anything otherwise, please let us know here, but as of now I am assuming it is not being offered this year.
I read that the honors college acceptance depends on the major. If you have a popular major, you are less likely to get into the honors college because there are so many students in your major, and they only take a certain percentage of each major. My son met the criteria last year according to what we’ve read, but did not get invited to the honors college.
The largest award I’ve seen on this thread is $30,000 (post #13) per year. The full cost of Drexel is about $61,000 per year according to their website. So even with the largest scholarship/grant combination (best case scenario), Drexel still costs about $31,000 a year? Seems like Penn State and/or Temple are better deals without ANY financial aid. Does Drexel seem expensive to anyone else but me? Am I missing something?
@ScreenName17 would you mind sharing your stats ? that would be very helpful for me! it well help me get an idea of what sorts of stats are required if one wants to get a 50K+ scholarship. Thank you
