drinking at georgetown

My cousin graduated from Georgetown in 2001. She told me that Georgetown is very strict about underage drinking and more importantly that, as the nation's capital, D.C. takes very strict action against any drunken disorder. She saw on several occations people being handcuffed in bars in the Georgetown area. Of course young GT students must drink, but I imagine it must sometimes be hard for them.
Hoyadan, perhaps you could give us some insight.

Many of people at Gtow definetely drink, DPS (Campus police) have lightened up, there are new rules and regulations about drinking, unless yuo are ohysically holding the drink, drinking it, or in the presence of an OPEN bottle, ur OK. Clubs are many times 18 to aprty 21 to drink, but if you're a girl drinking is very easy, harder for guys unless you ahve a fake. There aer always parties where there is alcohol, it's up to you how much you drink I guess. There is no peer-pressure to drink, I personally drink very little and I ahve never gotten any form of pressure from anybody, even at my job iinitiation. People are accepting, or even admire non-drinkers. There are other non-srinking activities, I mean we are at the nation's capital, there are always things to do. I'd say teh drinking scene in general is pretty standard for any university, my experience is limited though, we are not quite a crazy keg party school, but you'll can find peopel that have crazy keg parties if that is what u are looking for. I can be more specific if you have any more specific q's.

Im guessing you are the same people....

what??????????

mumbles something about trolls

Anyways, back to the drinking thing. So, beer pong, eh?

uh, hoyadan is my roommate, and isn't judewangus.

Anyway, beer pong is usually at a lot of parties, esp. in the village A/B parties. Basically you'll find the typical party scene at Georgetown. The majority of students drink, but to different degrees. If you want to drink, it won't be hard to find parties/alcohol. If you don't, there will be other people that share the same views as you. There's so much to do in DC that you won't really worry about being bored every week.

Is smoking not very big at Georgetown?

Just...wondering, not that... I... um, yeah.

A few people smoke, it'sn no big deal either way.

So no matter what you want to do, there's a way to do it and people to do it with?

I had a dream last night that i was a smoker...it was not a fun dream.

That's just about right calidan, and anything means ANYTHING! (wink)

lol awesome... I can't wait to get to Georgetown. ;)

i'm with calidan

haha excellent

the hilltop, here we come

how hard is it as underclassmen to get into upperclassmen parties?

at the student panel at the open house, they said it was pretty easy.

do people in gtown mostly go to parties around the gtown area or do they sometimes go to bars/clubs in adams morgan/dupont/downtown?
is it easy (for freshmen) to get into bars/clubs? with a fake id?

What kinda drugs are mostly used at gtown?
haha just kidding.....of coiurse right? you wouldnt expect me to ask abou drugs would you i mean come on now ppl

Its not that difficult for underclassmen to get into upperclassmen parties. Some of the best parties are thrown by student organizations though, so you have to join to go...also, if you're a freshman that's searchin for a party when you first get here, do not travel in a pack, that's how we know you're freshman. Also, its easier for girls than guys to get in. Gtown kids go to both, clubs and partieson campus. Lulu's, Platinum, VIP, are just some popular spots. Again its 18 to party, 21 to drink, unless you have a really good fake. ALso therer's something new where if you get caught with open alcoholic bevg in public, Metro can arrest you. Some kids got arrested this weekend because of it. Just be smart about it,that's all. You'll catch the hang of it soon enough.

My Georgetown interviewer said that a drunk male fell out of a building through a window and died on his first night in Gtown as a freshman. He said it was a sobering experience.
