Drinking vs. Pot

i say drinking > pot if theres hella people.

otherwise pot > drinking. i hate the hang over.

Dude, this is one of the best threads here.

I haven't drunk or smoked, but I've been around people who drink and smoke (while they were drinking and smoking)...

I have to say, smoking looks a lot better.

I don't see the appeal in drinking. It doesn't taste good or anything.

Pot doesn't take good, but at least you can get high.

Drinking makes you throw up and get a hang over.

Pot makes you high.

Drinking may loosen you up a bit, but so does Pot.

I guess to be polite and conformist, you can have a drink or two at a party, but I don't see any appeal in being drunk.

If it was my best friends and we were all getting ****faced, then okay. Being drunk then is an exception. And it would only happen on occasions.

I'm against both, but I work this way. I tolerate people who have an occasional drink (aka with a meal or something, not people who get wasted). I don't associate with people who do pot--it's illegal, nasty, and leads to other drugs.

I'd go out with a social drinker, but wouldn't get near a pot smoker.

just because it's illegal doesn't make it immoral. Alcohol is plenty nasty, and leads to plenty of other drugs, same with cigarettes. Just because people smoke pot doesn't make them a bad person, you probably know many pot smokers who are perfectly normal and you would never know they toked. All is good in moderation. People who move to other drugs after smoking pot are usually going to have a drug problem anyway.

Let's see...drinking is only illegal if you're underage or driving.
Pot is illegal at any age, at any situation except prescription, which seldom people have.

Yeah I rather take my chances drinking in moderation.

yah, the the severity of its legality varies from state to state. In more progressive areas like California, and more progressive areas within California (West Hollywood, Berkeley, San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Humbolt) pot is an extremely unimportant crime for cops to bust that they ignore it (unless you're slinging it).
It's really in a legal limbo. You get a bigger fine and more of a hassle for underage drinking than you do for getting caught with a gram of weed; here they just toss out the gram.

This is of course with regular cops, campus police have nothing better to do than to harass people for, "litering, and...? littering and?....littering and....? littering and...?...Smoking the reefer."

Anyone who thinks pot is less harmful than alcohol is an IDIOT. I didnt know that drinking all day could kill brain cells...oh, wait, that's POT.

KEEP IT UP AND YOULL BE A STUPID IDIOT IN 20 YEARS. HAVE FUN WITH THAT. IT EVEN HAS SHORT TERM MEMORY EFFECTS TOO.

But hey, if you want to smoke pot, thats your loss...AT LIFE! Be a stupid liberal and kill your mind. I don't care. Thank God we live in the US and it's illegal! And it will always be illegal!

i hope you're joking, you've got rasta @ the end of you're name so i'm fairly sure you are.
THC does not kill brain cells, although inhaling smoke does, because of the CO in it.

THC does trip up you're brain chemistry so that your mind doesn't filter out information, and you lose some because your brain can be overloaded with memory. and yes, it can have negative effects, just like alcohol DOES destroy brain cells and can cause liver damage.

We live in a drug culture, and what it comes down to is what drugs are socially stigmatized and which ones aren't. For some reason, a conservative backlash againts the 60's in the 1970's and 80's has created a stigma against pot, but that doesn't mean its immoral or needs to be illegal.

Either way, legal or not, its easily obtainable, and the decision comes down to each individual whether they want to and can enjoy cannabis in responsible moderation, or not in responsible moderation.

Im actually not joking. I only have this name because it sounds funny.

I see you go to berkeley. No wonder you like pot. You dont live in the real world yet. Only a very liberal one. Now I will admit ive been tempted to smoke pot a few times but thinking about the death of my brain cells always prevents me from engaging in such activity.

...since only liberals smoke pot. And do you really believe that drinking doesn't kill brain cells? The things are dying all the time anyway.

beer in moderation is good for you dammit

"pot is a stress reliever, makes you feel great and still have complete control over driving, etc, and doesn't give you headaches/hangovers."

rofl, complete control over driving, that's funny

Marijuana use lowers sperm counts/screws the reproductive system/etc.
No studies have shown this to be true permanently. In high doses in animals, slight changes to the system have been temporary, and in humans almost never.

It doesn't cause a lower sperm count but can cause impotency with continued use.

Both are awful.

^ ... but God damn are they fun

^
totally agree :)

topic: Drinking > Pot (it's just more stylish...at least in Europewhere drinking age is 18 and you drink in noble clubs, bars, etc)

Drink red wine, it's good for you =P. Beer just gets you fat.

But seriously, it's a matter of personal preference. Neither (in moderation) will have any serious negative consequences.

At my school both are very common, and pot is more widely accepted than at many places (even many colleges). But I much prefer drinking.

Both.
Ever heard of strikeouts?

How about none of them?
I hate the taste of alcohol and the smell of pot. I'd rather have a bar of smooth extra fine 65% dark chocolate. Now that's a real indulgence.
