Drive to school or fly?

I'm going to Rice in the fall and I was wondering if it was better to fly there or to drive. If I flew, then I would just have my stuff mailed there and then go shopping for anything else. If I drove, I would have to fly to my dad's house in GA anyway and then drive 10hrs to get to Rice. I would be able to get most of my stuff and then we could spend a day in the city and shop and get the rest of my stuff.

Which method is better? What do people usually do after their first years?

I thought this thread was about rich kids helicoptering to school

I’m driving. The drive is about 12 hours for me, which isn’t too bad. I’m probably going to do it at night when there’s nobody else on the highways.

I’m putting in a Valentine 1 in June.

I can fit everything I’m bringing into my car and even though they don’t let freshmen have cars, I’m going to work around that (park it at a friend’s house off campus or something). The only thing that I’m really worried about is paying for insurance, I paid cash for my car when I had a steady income and now that I don’t anymore, the premiums are really eating into my savings and college isn’t going to help at all.

Me too, lol

My first two years at BC, I drove. It wasn’t that bad but after I decided to store my stuff, I saved more money by flying. My drive was around 850+ miles. It could be done in a day, but I generally got a fleabag hotel for one night lol.

I just got one too! High five!

lol I wish my parents were rich enough to helicopter to school

yes definetely thought there was a heli involved

I usually take a submarine to school, but driving sounds like fun too!

Drive, if your a well driver of course… 10 hours is a long drive.
