So far in my college search I have only looked at colleges that are within reasonable driving distance (about 6 hours). I feel like it would probably be a hassle to have to fly to your college...is this true? Also, i'm really close to my family and feel like if i fly i won't be able to see them as much. Again, what are your experiences?

Flying is far better. The expense, security hassles, flight delays, flight cancellations, missing connecting flights, getting transportation to and from the airports, the hours sitting around a terminal or on the tarmac, and overpriced/bad food … it’s all good.

Our daughters are 1100 miles away, so they fly. But really, they’re home about as much as I was in college when I was six hours away by car.

Driving distance ofcourse.

i do definitely think that driving is easier but i’m wondering if i should consider colleges in flying distances as well. What are your experiences with flying to your college?

Flying is fine. Once you’re more than 5 hours away it doesn’t make a difference; you come home about the same amount.
