Well I’d like it. You can already pay with your phone. Now if you can carry your license there too it means your phone is all you need. Definitely would make things simpler for me.

We have digital drivers’ licenses in Colorado through a state government app (we also carry them in our wallets). I’m not really sure how you would create a fake ID this way, since the app is owned by the state and the state uploads your ID (you can’t do it yourself). The app also can include your insurance and registration, other licenses, vaccine cards, etc., but as far as I can tell the only documents the state uploads are the drivers’ licenses and vaccine cards. Everything else you add yourself. Still – it’s handy, and as far as I know counts as a legitimate form of ID.
That said, TSA won’t accept the digital ID. But in state, it’s fine.

As a regular user, it certainly would be convenient or temporary “backup”, in case I forget/lose my wallet.
As long as the person viewing the ID will take the mobile phone and validates they are actually looking at a screen produced in real-time from that app.
For “casual” ID’ing, it would be trivial to manufacture screen shots off the “real” app, but replace photo, or just the birth-date.
Or, of course, if the app were to transmit data through the NFC chip to a suitable ID scanner.

I have the MyColorado app on phone, with access to show my license. I still do carry real license in my wallet (or neck pouch). But sometimes I just go out with my phone - really handy say if I am driving over to the running trail and don’t want to leave valuables in the car.

Call me old, because I am, but I can’t imagine forgetting my driver’s license but remembering my phone.

Hmmm… I’m pretty old, but I never ever leave the house without my cellphone. (That’s partly due to old habits before retirement with work “pager” on cellphone and concern about elderly parents.) Of course it is a mini, easy to tuck in pockets.
I often leave my purse (a small one) behind on purpose, especially if hubby is driving. It does help that so many places now take Apple Pay.

Same. Never leave my house without my phone. Don’t take driver’s license or wallet when walk to the gym. I have Apple Pay on my phone and photo of my DL as well. Digital DL would be helpful for my DD as well who walks a lot but doesn’t like to carry her purse or wallet

Same here. Never leave my house without my phone. I leave all the time without my license, and not only when H is driving. I never take it with me to the gym. And I did actually get pulled over a couple of years ago on the way home because I had a headlight out. The policeman didn’t bat an eye. He asked me for my drivers license number or SSN and looked it up on the computer in his car. All was fine and told me to get it fixed.
That being said, I’d rather just have it on my phone.

Same here as well. If I’m walking or driving locally, I’ll be catching up with podcasts on my phone. If I’m driving any distance, I’ll be pulling up a map app for directions and/or traffic info. I’m probably not going to forget my card wallet with my license, but I’m much more likely to notice if I’ve left my phone behind.
I do have a photo of my license on my phone as a backup, but that’s not official like we’re talking about here.

Funny story - in my younger days, I needed the license for proof/id at bars/dancing. I had lost one license and replaced it. When I found the old one, it went in my husband’s wallet so I could leave the purse in the trunk.
I occasionally forget one or the other.
I would love to leave my wallet at home. Between Apple Pay and being able to have ID on the phone, that would be all I would need.
