I have been taking Spanish in school since 8th grade (will be completing my 4th full year this year). Currently, AP Spanish is in my senior year schedule, but I am considering dropping it. If I did, I would be able to take AP statistics or a 'statistics in science research' course. I'm looking to apply to top universities/ivies and I am sure I will major in the sciences, most likely some form of engineering.

Do you think it would be worth it to drop Spanish to take statistics? To be honest, I don't enjoy spanish and I think statistics would be more beneficial. The only reason I am hesitant is because I'm afraid dropping spanish senior year, after 4 years of it, will look bad for admissions.

Maybe a summer cc stats class, or an online AP one? That way you can have both (just be sure to try and get credit from your school)!

You could take AP Stats, and some other class or perhaps an immersion program. On you college applications, explain that you wanted to take statistics, but also wanted to continue your Spanish studies. I took AP Spanish, and I don’t recommend it to any non-native speakers; it’s an incredibly difficult course.

Drop Spanish. You’ve fulfilled the recommended amount at nearly every school. Just make sure you take the SAT II (or AP) so you don’t have to fill any language-related distribution requirements in college. And taking AP Stat, if it fits better with your future career plans and academic interests, is a great idea. It also shows that you haven’t dropped a rigorous class and replaced it with a mick.
