We just dropped our D off for the 2nd year and were again amazed by the sense of community in her house and how wonderfully she was welcomed back. Also highly recommend Mosaic for a great lunch.

overwhelmedma, what house is your daughter in? Isn’t she on Green Street? I’ve forgotten. My daughter lives in Baldwin (Lower Elm area) and she adores it. It is quite wonderful to see how the esprit de corps is nurtured all along the way. My daughter’s been there two weeks now, the first week for HONS training, and the second week to orient the first-years. I know they’ve had a lively cheer-off to foster the friendly rivalry between Baldwin and Albright next door and who knows what other fun activities with which to bond. Is Mosaic a Middle Eastern eatery? I may have eaten there before. I have yet to encounter an unsatisfactory meal in Northampton.

Mosaic? Is that a new restaurant?

My husband said just yesterday that we should go to Northampton for an overnight even though our daughter is no longer there. I said she’d kill us if she knew we went without her. :)

CarolynB, the house president here in a Green Street house said she could hear the Albright-Baldwin “lively cheer-off” from her room! It must have been quite lively indeed! :D

My D is in the upper Quad - year two now and is very happy there and somehow scored another large closet.
re Mosiac - I don’t think it’s that new - its a small cafe on a side street with lots of crepes and stews and salads - very informal. Apparently the same people also run a slightly fancier place that does dinner. We also have yet to have a bad meal and I will admit to being a fan of local burger even.

Yup. Hafied Assab owns both the Mosaic and Amanouz Cafes. The Amanouz Cafe is on Main street. I wouldn’t call it fancier though.

MWFN, I didn’t realize you lived that close to Northampton to consider driving there just for an overnight and a meal. How’s your daughter faring at grad school at UPitt? Perhaps when she comes home at break, the three of you can make the pilgrimage. :)

We don’t live close enough, but we used to do it several times a year. :)

D is doing great, although living alone is quite an adjustment after living in a close-knit house on campus.
