Okay, I'm not sure if I'm even posting this in the right section, but if anyone can help me, I'd greatly appreciate it. To make a long story short, I went to the University of Florida for a few semesters and did well until the third semester. I ended up getting severely depressed, having family issues, and dropped out, left Gainesville, and never went back. I never formally dropped my classes or anything, so I am assuming I received F's for the five classes I was taking that semester. I have been too upset about it to call and find out, and have been kicking myself in the butt about leaving. Anyway, I am now living in Fort Myers (FL) and am considering going back to Edison State College (where I received my Associate of Arts degree) to finish up my Bachelor's degree. I want more than anything to be a teacher. My question is, how would I go about doing this? I have no money (I would apply for financial aid and scholarships), I am a step mother to two boys now, I am 20 years old, and I am concerned that because I just up and left University of Florida without formally dropping classes, I will not be able to get back into Edison State College because of my UF transcript. Is there anything I can do? If so, what can I do? I really want to go back to school. I ruined my chances of graduating from my dream school, but I would at least like to get the degree I was going there for! Thoughts and suggestions are appreciated! :)

Time to get over being too upset to make the calls you need to make, because you need to make those calls.

You can be sure that you are not the first student to be in this situation. Talk to the admissions office at Edison State, and find out what you need to do to enroll. Ask them about any special programs they may have for students in your situation–I am sure there may be some . Find out what you need to do. Then do it.

Bump! Suggestions and advice is very much appreciated!

Boysx3 told you what to do. Make an appt with the admissions office at Edison State. Your classes at UF WILL be considered but they should be able to work with you. Hopefully you do not owe $ to UF because that will need to be cleared up as well before your transcript is forwarded. Don’t think you can just ignore your time at UF. Schools check the National Student Clearinghouse to make sure they have all your data from other schools.
