I currently attend Irvine Valley College and this is my first semester in college. Im taking statistics right now because when i signed up for classes, everything was full but stats. Seems to be a bad choice on my part because i dont understand anything in this class...there are three exams in the class (two midterms and a final) and homework is only about 5-10% of the grade...
I failed the first exam even after getting help and tutoring via uci friends...am i just better off dropping the class while i still have the time? Im taking 15 units right now and this class is worth 3 units. If i do drop i plan on taking pre-calc next semester which im very familiar with since i took it in high school. What are some good suggestions to do?! All insight is appreciated!

If it looks like you will end up with a bad grade, then you should drop the class. If you just drop one, that should be OK, but it is a red flag to universities when they see a transfer transcript with too many drops (or audits) on it.

When’s the last date to drop a class? If you know that you aren’t improving on homework and quizzes, it’s best to drop it now. A single W is fine. Later on just be sure to not to get a lot of em.

I would add that if you have financial aid, check with the people in that office to see if there is any impact on future aid. It may not be a question in your state, but it is in my state. Good luck with your decision! You have a lot of good advice from the other people who posted, too.
